This squirrel has a distinct reddish tint to their grey coat. Black coats are common as well.

Typical MO:

In residential areas squirrels will travel power lines and short out transformers. They have also been known to gnaw on wires.

Lawn damage by burying or searching for and digging up nuts is common.

These squirrels will chew to enlarge openings for access to bird houses.

Reproduction cycle:

Average litter size: 3 young. Breeding occurs in mid-December or early January and again in June. The gestations period is 42 to 45 days. Young begin to explore outside the nest around 10 to 12 weeks after birth.
