Stocky burrowing rodent with coarse brownish, red fur that weighs approximately 1 pound

Typical MO:

Rats consume and contaminate food and animal feed. They are known to damage containers and packaging material in which foods and feed are stored. Structural damage to buildings is common due to gnawing and burrowing.

Favorite Foods:

Cereal grains, meat, fish, nuts and some fruits.

Reproduction cycle:

Average litter size: 6 to 12 young. Females come into heat every 4 or 5 days and can mate within a day or two after a litter is born.

Disease Threat:

Nurine Typhus, leptospirosis, trichinosis, salmonellosis and ratbite fever.
